Contem, product summary

Reliable, easy to use, non toxic, leadfree, intermixable, stain based underglaze liquid brush on colours that hold colour integrity from 1000-1250deg C.
Ideal for teaching and professional use.

For best results, apply to bisque ware which has first been wiped to clean away salts.
Apply underglaze, allow to dry before applying the top glaze, then glaze fire. There is no need to do an underglaze hardening on firing. A transparent glaze will give best results.

When handling bisque ware, make sure fingers are free from grease.

We carry stock in the 70ml and 175ml pots.
We can order in 350ml and 700ml pots for customers.

Details of sample preparation
The glaze samples are based on a 4cm square tile of a pale clay.
A diagonal stripe of red slip was then applied to simulate the effect on red clay.
The red clay is always shown in the bottom right hand corner.
For matt finishes, a clear glaze was applied on an opposite diagonal.

UNDERGLAZES (Brush-on) - We poured P1616 Casting slip into a tile mould and when dry brushed on 2 coats of UG38 Light Brown Contem underglaze with a hake on the right hand diagonal to represent red coloured clay and   biscuit fired to 1000 deg cent.  We brushed on 3 coats of the underglaze with a hake.  As these glazes can be left unglazed, we glazed with Potterycrafts Ltd P2017 across the diagonal to represent the effect on both light and red clays and re-fired to 1040 deg cent. in an electric kiln.
