The studio also offers PAY AS YOU GO WHEEL HIRE giving full access to the facilities and equipment in the studio, e.g. Shimpo wheel, slab roller, tools, tile cutters, whirlers.

Learn ceramics in a fully equipped central Brighton studio with Silvia K at Atelier 51. Develop excellent practical and technical skills in an informal, creative, and positive working studio environment. You will be encouraged to explore your personal original ideas. As all classes are small group of 3-4, Silvia will be available to offer you personal guidance throughout the day. The cost on all classes includes materials and firings. The Saturday intensive course also includes lunch. Join Silvia for 'Make your own' social Fridays, taster days, one to one, or intensive course. Classes start at £40 and are designed to suit beginners or those with little experience.

The award winning studio was established by Silvia in 2012 shortly after completing an MDes in Ceramics and Visual Research at the University of Brighton, achieving distinction. Silvia also worked for 3 years as a ceramics demonstrator at the University of Brighton specialising in hand building techniques, surface decoration, slip casting and mould making. Classes in my home studio teaching all aspects of throwing and handbuilding to any level, beginner to advanced. I have been potting for 24 years.

I have 4 wheels, you can work in stoneware and also porcelain.

Ongoing classes are held mornings or evenings for 2 hours, and cost £16 each, with a small extra charge for actual clay used.

This involves an all-round introduction to throwing clay on the wheel. You will be taught the basic principles of throwing techniques; centring, coning, pulling up the clay, forming and turning. It will include learning the properties and how to work the clay, firing processes and glazing. The lessons will be taught in a well equipped studio with Tanya who has had twenty years experience.

Ceramics classes for beginners and improvers are held on Wednesday evenings at Uplands Community College, Wadhurst, 7 - 9.30pm also with tutor Clare Brown.

Based in a 17th century mill near Bergerac, France, I offer weekly residential pottery courses in two beautiful workshops.

The mill is in an area which is accredited as a bird sanctuary and is situated in a valley with extensive woodland walks.

It is possible for partners of students booking a double room to come for a holiday only with full board and lodging.

My studio is equipped with two electric wheels, a kiln and rooms for hand building. The studio is in our basement and has a separate entrance.

In the past I have taught art and ceramics to all ages at schools and adult education centres and still enjoy teaching at home.
