Pots of Talent

We are a community group with the aim of offering a social support space that is based around creative pottery activities. Members of our group all face difficult life situations; some are long-term carers, some have learning difficulties and others suffer from mental health difficulties, some are long-term unemployed.

For all of us the group is a safe, nurturing space to take time out of daily responsibilities, to gain confidence socially, to discover our creative talents and to learn new skills. We have loads of fun being together and exploring a range of pottery activities. All are welcome!

Wild Pottery with Native Hands

As featured on The Guardian website http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2012/aug/23/wild-pottery-weekend-crafts Spend two days in beautiful Sussex woodland making hand built pottery using locally dug raw clay, some of which we will dig on the day. Experiment with making and adding inclusions to strengthen the clay enough for it to be fired in an open fire. It is an exciting and magical to witness clay being transformed by fire (which we will light without matches). Time is set aside for connecting to the beautiful surroundings, making the course a nourishing as well as a learning experience.

Suitable for all levels including beginners. Places limited to a maximum of 8. Led by Ruby Taylor, experienced maker and qualified teacher.
